Ethylene-Propylene, or EP, is available in several polymer variations, all of which exhibit excellent resistance to polar fluids such as water, phosohate esters and ketones. It is not resistant to petroleum oils and solvents. It possesses excellent resistence to heat degradation, compression set, low temperatures, sunlight, ozone and weathering. In many (but not all) applications it can be substituted for butyl rubber. It is superior to butyl with regard to compression set and resilience, but is more permeable to high pressure gas.
