Neoprene, the DuPont trade name for polychloroprene rubbers, possesses excellent resistance to sunlight, ozone and weathering, together with moderate resistance to petroleum oils. Its good resilience, tear resistance and flex life make it particularly suitable for parts which will undergo tension and/or flexion in service. Diaphragms, bellows, boots, and bladders are typical products, but neoprene is also used frequently for seals because of its good resistance to a wide variety of fluids and chemicals.
